I love love. Obsessively, crazily, uncontrollably. I know you are probably thinking I’m crazily in love with someone. Suprisingly, or not, no I’m not. I love people, beautiful people. Beautiful faces not a requirement, just a beautiful soul, & I love you! Don’t worry, I know people make mistakes, we’re cool like that.
Maybe I’m like this because I just learnt how to love not too long ago. I learnt to love for a reason. Love for Allah’s sake, no one else’s. So I love people for how beautifully Allah created them, all different but with the same root. It’s like they are branches of a firmly rooted tree of some sort. Some are so close I get to see them everyday, others only once in a while and the rest without ever actually meeting them. The last group, I adore so much. In it are not just people I love, but also the only Reason I do, Allah. His Love for us surpasses any other & for that, you’ve just got to love Him back. Not forgetting our beloved role model, Muhammad(SAW), his family, companions & all those he loved. Family, friends & a whole lotta strangers are next on the list. It’s only natural to love family & friends, but loving strangers requires an explanation. See, these strangers are my brothers & sisters in faith, we definitely have a lot in common so you’ll just have to read their thoughts or listen to their speeches & discover one who thinks so much like you, even if they live on the other side of the planet. My heart’s broken from all this, not because I loved & was let down, but because I just had to break my heart to pieces & give a piece to a lot of beautiful people. So if you let me in your heart, I’m sorry I can’t leave so easily. In there, somewhere, you’ll be in mine too<3 :).

40 Ahadeeth(Matn) by Ammar AlShukry

1 Know that all actions are by intentions
2 And the deen was taught by angelic interventions
3 Islam is built on five pillars of might
4 And the angels in our mother’s wombs did write
5 The deen rejects all types of innovation
6 And the heart is the limb’s temptation or salvation
7 The religion is based all on advice sincere
8 And the sanctity of a Muslim’s blood is severe
9 We don’t ask about that which is obscure
10 And Allah only accepts that which is pure

11 We leave things that are doubtful and suspect
12 And things that don’t concern us, we don’t inspect
13 And to love for you, what I would love for me
14 And blood to never be spilt, except for three
15 And to speak only good, if not, then refrain
16 Anger is from the heat of hell, avoid its flames
17 Everything is to be done in an excellent fashion
18 Fear Allah everywhere, treat people with compassion
19 Everything that happens is only by Allah’s permission
20 Hayaa was forever written, as every prophet’s vision

21 Believe in Allah and be steadfast
22 Perform halal, avoid haram, pray, and fast
23 Purification is equal to one half of our Iman,
24 And oppression was forbidden to Allah and man,
25 Everyone has something they can give in charity
26 Even picking up litter, a selfless rarity
27 Sin is what makes your heart feel resistance and unease
28 Upon us is the Sunnah, in times of difference and disease
29 The tongue is the most common catalyst to the fire
30 About those things kept silent, we should not inquire

31 Show indifference to the world, you shall be of the Zuhaad,
32 There’s no initiating harm, or reciprocating harm to add,
33 Evidence is to be brought forth by the accuser,
34 And who sees munkar, must be its remover
35 Be the servants of Allah, all together as brothers
36 Allah is in your service, so long as you are for each other
37 And every good deed Allah takes and multiplies
38 And He is for His awliya, their hearing, hands and eyes
39 He has forgiven us duress, mistakes and what we forget
40 We are strangers in this world, so don’t settle just yet

41 Perfection occurs, when passions fall in line with the Divine
42 And Allah will forgive all sins, and He will not mind.

LET YOUR HEART LIVE

Featured

Bismillahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem
“O you who have believed, respond to Allah & to the messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man & his heart & that to Him you will be gathered”(Anfaal:24).

This ayah, I love. ”..when he calls you to that which gives you life’…is a survival tip we all need. I mean, we all know death..but what if we are dying without even knowing? Dying from the inside, slowly, steadily…sadly. So the tip is response, ‘we hear & we obey’. We respond by doing as we are told. So let Him intervene between you & your heart which is unavoidably inclined to evil (as stated in the Qur’aan;12:53), & that which kills it. Let the only One who knows what is best for it take care of it. Be flexible, open-minded, a free-spirit, let your heart LIVE.

THEN WHICH OF THE BLESSINGS OF YOUR LORD DO YOU DENY?

Featured

“If you were to count Allah’s favours, you will not be able to number them; most surely humanity is very unjust, very ungrateful”(Ibrahim:34).

Whether we recognise them as blessings or don’t even notice anything special about them, the fact remains, they are undeniable. Undeniably uncountable too. Blessings that range from the air we breathe to the comfort of some of our homes which a lot of people wouldn’t even find comfortable because they are too big for an average nuclear family. And in between two extremes of totally insignificant air and significant but not appreciated wealth are dozens of others; countless body parts working 24/7 to keep us alive and healthy, good food, water, even knowledge & faith, to mention a few. Just like scientists had to study atoms before being able to understand any element, to really appreciate the magnitude, importance and the impact of all these, we have to notice and study the small things. Even though I know it’s impossible to do that every time we breathe or walk or talk, we could atleast say Alhamdulillah once in a while. An Alhamdulillah that is directly directed to a blessing, let it be one that is said when we are concious of the fact that many people don’t have what we have & they live with it, ironically, happier than we do. The blessings of knowledge & faith are by far the most important, they are what matter in both Dunya & Aakhira. So let’s appreciate the blessings of Allah upon us, use them for good deeds because they will testify for or against us on the Day of Judgement.

My DeensisterS!

Allow me to introduce to you,
ladies who keep my days off the
blues.

This is no exaggeration,
but I’ve got to say they are amongst the most loveable of Allah’s creation.

Kind, sweet, beautiful souls they are,
There’s no way you’d talk to them & not feel love in the air.

Seekers of knowledge, speaking the heart’s most difficult language…
*love*… love sparked by the love of something Greater, ALLAH, the Most Exalted Creator.

They learn, they share…
They’ve got this tender loving care.

I pray Allah grants them happiness, peace & tranquility…
safeguards them & their families.

But most importantly, I pray for our reunion in Jannah…

Missing The Man I’ve Never Met*

Featured

It’s a strange concept for the mind to comprehend,
but the heart beats strong and aches with no amend,
Missing him, with every beat,
Craving his presence through every defeat.

Tears pour down, for this Beloved Soul,
I want you near me now, before I lose control–
The Man who helped those in need,
the Man who, by Allah’s will, guided people away from violence and greed–

He made everyone he met feel worthy of living,
Gave them hope in Allah, the Merciful and Forgiving.
He soothed the souls and cooled the eyes,
He wouldn’t tolerate behavior filled with deceit and hurtful lies.

Today I close my eyes, and imagine him near.

I’ve never seen his face, but his silhouette I can see clear.

What would He do today, if He was here with us
to witness the deceit–the lies–the human lives lead by lusts?

I ask Allah to forgive you and me tonight.
May He cause us to be of those who in His cause we fight–
not a fight with swords–guns and other weapons–
the fight of a soul who is preparing to be reckoned.

It’s a strange concept for the mind to comprehend,
but the heart beats strong and aches with no amend,
Missing him, with every beat,
Craving his presence through every defeat.

Missing the man I never met–
But even that aching pain is a God-send.

Let it go, oh heart

Featured

Written by •Bint Salih•

With shaky hands and a heart heavy,

with this pen have I decided to let go.

Let go of all the burden with which my

heart I have depressed.

For every moment I thought it was most

difficult to forgive, and for every wrong I

have held on to, on this day have I

decided to ease my heart of the burden,

for this burden affects none but me.

For every moment that my words or

actions have depressed a heart, sincere

forgiveness do I earnestly ask.

Now that I have asked for forgiveness

from man, I seek forgiveness from The

Lord of mankind, for every moment that I

have turned to His creation instead of

Him. But then, I turn to Him in gratitude,

for everytime I am hurt by man, He

reminds me that had I turned to Him, I

would have saved my heart from the

pain. So yes, every pain is a reminder to

turn back to The Lord of the worlds.

I seek forgiveness from my Lord, for

every time I raised and turned my head

in pride, and every time I’ve let my ego

get the best of me. But then, I turn to

Him filled with gratitude, for He has

shown in people what is in me, as a

reflection, so that I may see and ponder,

and know to change my ways from

wrong to right.

Finally, I seek forgiveness from my most

merciful Lord, for everything I am unable

to mention, for He knows better than I

do what I am most in need of.

Now, with hands steady and heart as

light as a feather, I thank you O my

Merciful Lord, for bestowing upon me the

ability to let go. For the ability to

breathe, for I once felt suffocated and

now the air feels fresher and my lungs

feel fuller.

Now I pray for steadfastness and a heart

that never looses direction. I pray that

You be my Guide and my helper, for

surely, If I have you, then I have

everything I need.

Keep Walking

Featured

Writteen By ·Yasmin Mogahed·

Every day I get closer to our Meeting.
I feel like I’ve been walking this path for a thousand years
towards You…
and yet I’m still not there.
So close, and yet so far still
But I keep walking,
despite the tears,
despite the wind,
despite the skinned knees and broken bones,
despite the bruises and scars that make this heart what it is today,
I keep walking…
toward You.
There’s only one direction,
one direction:
towards You.
From You, to You.
I have nothing else.
Nothing.
That is my poverty.
I keep walking
because behind every sun’s setting is a rising,
Behind every storm is a Refuge,
Behind every fall is a rise,
Behind every tear is a cleansing of the eyes.
And in every spot you’ve ever been stabbed, is a healing,
and the creation of skin stronger than it was.
I keep walking
because wallahi I have nothing but Your mercy.
I have nothing but Your promise
Your words
Your promise that:

“Oh mankind, indeed you are ever toiling on towards your Lord- painfully toiling,- but you shall meet Him.” (84:6)

Five Levels Of Prayer

Featured

by deensisters
Ibn-Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

And mankind, with regard to their performance of prayer are in five levels:

The First: The level of the one who is negligent and wrongs his soul: He is the one who falls short in performing wudhoo (ablution) properly, performing the prayer upon its time and within its specified limits, and in fulfilling its essential pillars.

The Second: The one who guards his prayers upon their proper times and within their specified limits, fulfils their essential pillars and performs his wudhoo with care. However, his striving (in achieving the above) is wasted due whisperings in his prayer so he is taken away by thoughts and ideas.

The Third: The one who guards his prayers within the specified limits, fulfils their essential pillars and strives with himself to repel the whisperings, thoughts and ideas. He is busy struggling against his enemy (Shaytaan) so that he does not steal from the prayer. On account of this he is engaged in (both) prayer and jihaad.

The Fourth: The one who stands for the prayer, completes and perfects its due rights, its essential pillars, performs it within its specified limits and his heart becomes engrossed in safeguarding its rights and specified limits, so that nothing is wasted from it. His whole concern is directed towards its establishment, its completion and its perfection, as it should be. His heart is immersed in the prayer and in enslavement to his Lord the Exalted.

The Fifth: The one who stands for the prayer like the one mentioned above. However, on top of this, he has taken and placed his heart in front of his Lord Azzawajall, looking towards Him with his heart with anticipation, (his heart) filled with His love and His might, as if he sees and witnesses Allaah. The whisperings, thoughts and ideas have vanished and the coverings which are between him and his Lord are raised. What is between this person and others with respect to the prayer, is superior and greater than what is between the heavens and the earth. This person is busy with his Lord Azzawajall, delighted with Him.

The First type will be punished, the second type will be held to account, the third will have his sins and shortcomings expiated, the fourth will be rewarded and the fifth will be close to his Lord, because he will receive the portion of the one who makes his prayer the delight and pleasure of his eye. Whoever makes his prayer, the delight and pleasure of his eye, will have the nearness to his Lord Azzawajall made the delight and pleasure of his eye in the hereafter. He will also be made a pleasure to the eye in this world since whoever makes Allaah the pleasure of his eye in this world, every other eye will become delighted and pleased with him.

IT’S AN EASY CHOICE.

Featured

Bismillahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem…
Choosing between two or more options is an everyday affair, regardless of age, status, gender etc. It may be a child choosing which toy he/she intends to play with at a particular time, you thinking of which pair of shoes to buy at the mall, me trying to choose between studying & ‘chilling’ a bit, a young man choosing a wife among millions of ladies and the list goes on and on and on…
However, we were all born with that one important choice we have to make at a point in our lives. It’s the choice of a ‘lifetime’ but more importantly that of the ‘afterlife’ too. It’s the choice between Jannah and Jahannam. Paradise & Hell. Two words every English-speaking person knows of and can describe in his/her own terms.
Paradise is the most beautiful place that will ever exist, it’s so beautiful that Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying that: Allah the Exalted and Glorious, said: I have prepared for My pious servants which no eye has ever seen, and no ear has ever heard, and no human heart has ever perceived but it is testified by the Book of Allah. He then recited:” No soul knows what comfort has been concealed from them, as a reward for what they did.”(As-Sajda:17). Not forgetting all other ayahs that describe paradise & give us a glimpse of it, it’ll take a whole different discussion to get there.
Hell is the complete opposite of such beauty, it’s the most humiliating place imagineable, may Allah protect us from it. Aameen.
Allah (SWT) says: “For those who answered their Lords Call (believed in the Oneness of Allah and followed His Messenger Muhammad SAW i.e. Islamic Monotheism) is Al-Husna (i.e. Paradise). But those who answered not His Call (disbelieved in the Oneness of Allah and followed not His Messenger Muhammad SAW), if they had all that is in the earth together with its like, they would offer it in order to save themselves (from the torment, it will be in vain). For them there will be the terrible reckoning. Their dwelling place will be Hell; – and worst indeed is that place for rest.”(13:18). So it’s that easy, a choice btw Husna & everything NOT Husna. I chose Al-Husna, Jannah, Paradise so I answered His Call, I answered His call to pray & fast & obey Him all my life in sha Allah. And to avoid everything NOT Husna, Jahannam, Hell, I’ll pray He keeps me firm on His Deen. ‘Cause NOTHING is worth losing Jannah, nothing. Having this thought will in sha Allah help you give up Haraam stuff very easily.

“If the love for Jannah doesn’t sway you, let the fear of Jahannam motivate you.”

It is common knowledge that no human being is flawless. Imperfection is the one common trait everyone has. Now, it is atleast comforting to know that it’s not an individual problem, it’s universal. But, that really doesn’t mean it’s okay to jump in to this & that, anyhow, every time. It is actually a chance to strive and become a better person every single second of a life so limited.
Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) said: ‘All the Children of Adam constantly err, but the best of those who constantly err are those who constantly repent'(Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Ahmad, Hakim). This hadith clearly gives us the key to being the *best* of the Children of Adam. It’s simple logic. So it’s that easy, Repent & be the best. Promise yourself not to go back to doing whatever it was you were doing. It was a mistake, everyone has been there, but not everyone leaves. You & I are leaving in sha Allah, we are leaving as better people with no regrets because we learnt from our mistakes and moved on, because Allah loved us so much that He chose us to be amongst the best, because if we never made such mistakes we wouldn’t have enjoyed the Mercy of the Most Merciful.
“Say: O ‘Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds & sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: verily, Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful”(Az-Zumar:53).

When I look at the rose and its beauty,
I’m taken in awe by this great bounty.

Then I look around and can’t help but see
How we walk around so free.

And I don’t understand
My sister I can’t comprehend.
My mind cannot fathom your beauty,
This great blessing of Allah this great bounty.

Why do we let ourselves be so free?
Is our jar of confidence so empty?

Why do we let them men take advantage of u and me?
Why do we let them see?
That’s what’s only meant for you and me.

Do you not value your beauty?
Do you not value your chastity?
More than That of a pearl? A gem? Or a ruby..

Are you an item on a shelf?
With a price tag?
That’s says ‘I’m on sale?’
Do not let time drag!

Do you have a sticker that says
“Made in china” or “the united states”

NO my sister!!
We are worth more!
We don’t deserve to be trampled on the floor!

Don’t give yourself a sticker saying i’m on sale!
Rather say “I’m not for every male”

[Must read Story] The martyrdom of Sa’id bin Jubair [rahimahullah]

Featured

When Sa’id bin Jubair (rahimahullah) entered into the court of the ruthless governor, Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Ath-Thaqafi, the latter asked the former, “What is your name?”

“Sa’id bin Jubair.”

“Rather, you are ‘the miserable one, son of the broken one,” said Al-Hajjaj, immediately showing hostility towards Sa’id. This was the way he treated all of his enemies – basically, anyone who criticized him was his enemy.

“Rather, my mother knows my name better than you do,” said Sa’id, with the calmness and composure that one should show when responding to an ignorant person.

“You are wretched, and so is your mother,” said Al-Hajjaj.

“As for the unseen world, One other than you knows it,” said Sa’id.

“I will cause you to change in this world with a blazing fire,” said Al-Hajjaj.

“Had I known that that was in your hands, I would have taken you as a God,” said Sa’id.

“And what do you say about Muhammad (sallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam)?” asked Al-Hajjaj.

“He is the Prophet of mercy, the Imam of guidance – may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him – and the Messenger of the Lord of all that exists, sent to all of mankind with a good exhortation.”

“And what do you say about ‘Ali bin Abu-Talib ?” Al-Hajjaj asked. “Is he in Paradise or in the Hell-fire?”

“Had I entered it, I would have seen its dwellers,” said Sa’id.

“And what do you say about the Caliphs (Khalifahs)?”

“I am not a guarantor for them,” said Sa’id. “Each person is held ransom for only that which his own hands have reaped.”

“Should I curse them or praise them?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“I will not say that which I do not know,” said Sa’id. “I am required to be accountable only for the affairs of my own soul.

“Who among them do you like best?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“The one whom the Creater (Allah ‘azawajal) is most pleased with,” said Sa’id.

“And who among them is Allah most pleased with?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“The knowledge thereof is with the One who knows their secrets and their private discourses,” said Sa’id.

“And what kind of a man will I be on the Day of Resurrection?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“I am too insignificant for Allah to reveal to me the unseen world,” said Sa’id.

“You refuse to be truthful with me,” said Al-Hajjaj.

“To the contrary, (I said what I said because) I did not want to lie to you,” said Sa’id.

“Forget about all of this,” Al-Hajjaj said. “Tell me why you never laugh.”

“I have never seen anything that should make me laugh,” said Sa’id. “And how can a created being laugh when he was created from clay, which is consumed by fire!”

“Then what is the matter with us that we laugh?” asked Al-Hajjaj.

“Hearts (of people) are not at the same level,” said Sa’id.

“Have you ever seen any form of entertainment (i.e., musical instruments)?”

“I do not know what you are referring to,” said Sa’id. Al-Hajjaj then asked one of his underlings to bring a lute (a stringed instrument) and a flute. When they were brought and someone began to play the lute and blow into the flute, Sa’id began to cry.

“What is making you cry?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“O Hajjaj, you have reminded me of a tremendous matter,” said Sa’id. “By Allah, after what I have seen here, I will never eat to satiety, quench my thirst, or wear (nice) clothing, and I will continue to remain in a state of sadness.”

“Fine, but what is your view concerning this entertainment?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“O Hajjaj, by Allah, that is the sadness (I am referring to). As for this blowing instrument, it reminded me of a tremendous Day, the Day on which the trumpet will be blown. As for the lute, a tree was wrongfully cut (for it to be made). And as for the strings, they are from the bowels of sheep (which were wrongfully slaughtered (since they weren’t slaughtered for food or any beneficial use, but rather for forbidden entertainment)). They will be resurrected with you on the Day of Resurrection.”

“I am more beloved to Allah than you are?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“No one goes to his Lord until he knows how he ranks with Him,” said Sa’id. “And Allah knows best about the unseen.”

“And how is it possible that I will not go to my Lord as I am today (i.e., dignified – as he deemed himself to be)?” said Al-Hajjaj. “I am with the Imam of the Jama’ah (the main body of Muslims), while you are with the Imam of division and Al-Fitnah (trial or tribulation, the source of discord).”

“I am not outside of the Jama’ah,” said Sa’id. “Nor am I pleased with the trials or tribulations; but the decree of Allah (‘azawajal) is executed: nothing can prevent it (from being executed).”

“What do you think about that which we are gathering for the Leader of the Believers?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“I have not seen (what it is that you are gathering for him),” said Sa’id. Al-Hajjaj ordered for gold, silver, pearls, and precious jewels to be brought to him; when they came, he put them between the hands of Sa’id ibn Jubair.

“This is good, if you fulfill its condition,” said Sa’id.

“And what is its condition?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“If you use what you gathered to purchase safety from the Greater Terror on the Day of Resurrection, then that is fine. Otherwise”

…every nursing mother will forget her nursling, and every pregnant one will drop her load… (22:2)

“Nothing that is gathered for the world is good other than that which is good and purified,” continued Sa’id.

“Then you consider our action of gathering (this wealth) good and pure?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“In your view, you have gathered it,” said Sa’id. “And you know better whether it is good and pure (i.e., whether you have procured it through lawful means).”

“Would you like to have something from it (i.e., from this treasure)?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“I do not love that which Allah does not love,” said Sa’id.

“Woe unto you!” exclaimed Al-Hajjaj.

“The destruction (that you have invoked upon me) is reserved for those who are sent away from Paradise and are made to enter the Hell-fire,” said Sa’id.

“Choose, O Sa’id, the method in which I will kill you,” said Al-Hajjaj.

“Choose for yourself, O Hajjaj,” said Sa’id. “For by Allah, whatever method you use to kill me, Allah will kill you in the same manner in the Hereafter.”

“Do you want me to forgive you?” Al-Hajjaj asked.

“If there is any forgiveness, then it is from Allah,” said Sa’id. “As for you, you have no exoneration and no excuse (for what you do).”

“Take him away and kill him,” said Al-Hajjaj to his guards. As Sa’id was being taken away, he laughed. When Al-Hajjaj was informed about his laughing (which was something novel for Sa’id), he ordered for him to be brought back to him. When Sa’id returned, Al-Hajjaj asked, “O Sa’id, what has made you laugh?”

“I became amazed at your temerity and brazenness in your dealings with Allah, which is contrasted by His forbearance and leniency towards you,” said Sa’id.

Al-Hajjaj then ordered for one of the guards to bring a Nat’a. A Nat’a was a special kind of carpet that was made of leather. It would be rolled out onto the ground on special occasions only – when someone was about to be killed or tortured. And its purpose was to prevent the blood of the person being tortured or executed from splattering all over the floor, especially if the floor was made of marble or expensive material, as was often the case in the castles of governors and leaders. When the Nat’a was laid out and Sa’id was moved onto it, Al-Hajja said to his guards, “Kill him.”

“First, let me perform two units of prayrer,” said Sa’id. Having faced the Qiblah and commenced his prayer, Sa’id recited this Verse:
Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah .” (6:79)

“Turn him so that he does not face the Qiblah,” said Al-Hajjaj. When the guards executed his instructions, Sa’id recited this verse:
…so wherever you turn yourselves or your faces there is the Face of Allah (2:115)

“Put his face onto the ground,” said Al-Hajjaj, more furious than he probably ever was before in his life. Referring to the ground and the earth, Sa’id then recited Allah’s saying:
From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time. (20:55 )

“Slaughter him!” exclaimed Al-Hajjaj.

“I make you bear witness, O Hajjaj, that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, and He has no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger,” said Sa’id. “I keep these words with you in safekeeping, O Hajjaj, until you meet me on the Day of Resurrection.”

Sa’id then invoked Allah saying, “O Allah, do not give him the power to kill anyone after me.” They then killed him – may Allah have mercy on him.

After he was killed, Al-Hajjaj lived for only fifteen more days. In what remained of his days, he would constantly call out in pain, “What is it between me and Sa’id bin Jubair? Whenever I want to sleep, he takes me by the leg (to prevent me from sleeping).”

One narration indicates that he lived for forty days after he had killed Sa’id. It is mentioned in that narration that when he would sleep, he would see Sa’id in his dream. Sa’id would grab him by his garment and say, “O enemy of Allah! Why did you kill me?” While he was awake, Al-Hajjaj would ruefully say, “What is it between me and Sa’id bin Jubair, what is it between me and Sa’id bin Jubair?”

It is also reported that, during his last days, Al-Hajjaj became paralyzed, so that if he placed his hand on a burning stove, his skin would burn, yet he wouldn’t feel anything. Also, he became very ill; his illness was attributed to worms that entered into his body.

When Al-Hajjaj summoned for Al-Hasan Al-Basri to come to him, Al-Hasan simply said,

“Did I not tell you: do not stand in the way of the scholars! You have killed Sa’id!”

“I didn’t call you here in order to ask you to supplicate for me (i.e., for my cure),” said Al-Hajjaj. “I only called you here so that Allah can grant me rest (i.e., death) from the condition that I am in.” Shortly thereafter, Al-Hajjaj died. And it would not be surprising if we were to learn that his last words were: “What is it between me and Sa’id bin Jubair!”

Palestine egypt syria iraq bangladesh burma afghanistan.
The enemies quenching their thirst with the blood of muslims,
Children, women & the weak brutally killed and you say war on “terrorism”,
You fear a stone in the hand of a toddler,
You fear a new born who’s names Usamah,
You fear a woman may give birth to a future muslim soldier,
So you kill the toddler in fear of the stone,
And you force a name change in fear of a future Bin laden,
And you brutally torture and murder the pregnant mother n her stillborn baby because you fear the future!
Are you not aware that you shall reap as you have sowed,
Are you not afraid of the one greater than any force and any weapon of mass destruction, have you forgotten your LORD???

As you kill, you carry on with blood on your hands, burden of your conceince on your shoulders, you shall be dealt with by Your Lord the way you treated His servants.
For every 1 you kill, more are born, and so will islam grow..
Who will fight you if you kill them all you might ask,
But remember stronger than your ak47s,stronger than your tanks and more destructive than your bombs is the prayer of those you oppress!.

[My dear brothers & sisters,we are weak, yet we have the weopon of dua, your brothers and sisters need you.. Will you still remain selfish with your prayers???]

Qalbin Saleem; A Pure Heart♥

Written by ·Fatima Adam·

The day of Qiyaamah was described as:  “yauma La yanfa’u maalun wa Laa banuun, Illaa man Ataa Allaahu bi Qalbin Saleem-The day when wealth and children will not benefit anyone except he who will come to Allah with the Qalbin Saleem (A pure heart)” [Suratul Shu’ara 87-89]

Now, we all want Allaah’s mercy on that day, we all hope for it…and we’re told now that none of our worldly acquisitions will benefit us,…not the wealth nor the children…everyone’s on his own…but that there is something, that will help us on that day,…and that is the ‘Qalbin Saleem’…

We weren’t given a direct english translation for this phrase, as the Ulama have interpreted it in different ways based on their understanding…

*Abdullah bin Abbas, Mujaahid, Qataadah, Ibn Sireen and many others (Radiy’Allaahu Anhuma) are of the opinion that ‘Qalbin Saleem’ is a heart that is absolutely free from Kufr (disbelief) and Nifaaq (hypocrisy).A heart free from Kibr (pride), Hasad (jealousy) and Hiqd (hatred).  “A Calm, Clean heart, that Has not engaged in association of partnership with the Maker” [mufti menk]

* A Khaalis (sincere) heart [Qurtubi]. This heart has also been described as a heart which, due to extreme love for Allah and His Rasool (Sal’Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam), leads to total obedience to Allah and the teachings of His Rasool.

The Salaf (pious predecessors) used to say:  “The heart is the king of the limbs and the rest of the limbs are its soldiers; they always obey him by implementing his instructions and they never disobey him in any regard.  (Remember) when the king is pious, his soldiers will also be pious.  Similarly, when the king is sinful, his soldiers will also be sinful.” (Jaami-ul-Uloom wal-Hikam)

Sa’eed bin Musayyab explains that the Arabs very often used the word ‘Saleem’ in the meaning of ‘Ladeegh’ (one who was bitten by a snake or scorpion) and this is exactly the case in the phrase Qalbin Saleem.

(Ruh-ul-Ma’aani) The Qalbin Saleem is also the heart which, due to extreme fear for Allah, is like the heart of a person who has just been bitten by a scorpion.

(Qurtubi) In the words of Abu Bakr ibn-ul-Arabi, it is a heart that is “burnt and stung with fear (for Allah).

Some commentators of Hadith claim that the group of people who will enter Jannah because “their hearts are like the hearts of the birds” (Muslim) refer to people whose hearts are overwhelmed with fear for Allah.

The Criteria for attaining this purity of the heart are (as mentioned previously); This is an explanation based on my limited understanding..Firstly,–» the heart should be Devoid of Kufr.

This requires one to establish firm belief in Allaah, His Oneness, Might and Greatness. He as Our Creator, and By Who’s will  that we shall all be Called to Account for Our Deeds, and On Destiny nd Pre-decree, ‘Qada wa Qadar’.The heart Should have knowledge about Allaah, and His attributes and

Thus Contain Fear of Allaah alongside Hope in His mercy..Secondly,–» the heart should be free from Hypocrisy.Hypocrisy entails; ‘Lying in Speech, betraying Trusts and Breaking Promises’ So, the heart should be free from all of these.

And the heart should be one that is conscious of Allaah at any situation and is not two-faced…like; this way with this set of people and that way with others. And Allaah Subhanahu wa ta’alah Says; ‘And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: ‘we Believe in Allaah and the Last Day’ while in fact they believe not….’In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allaah has increased their disease.

A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies.” (Surah 2. Al-Baqarah; Ayah 8  tested in different ways. And Allaah is never unjust. A hadith that supports this is “None of You truly believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves from himself” (muslim)

—» Free From Hatred. For a heart to be Completely pure, it should not contain any hatred. Rather, it should be filled with love and mercy…Kindness and Compassion…For if not for the Common faith, atleast for Our Common Humanity.

Lastly, A Criteria that probably summarizes all the others listed…The heart Should be ‘Sincere’ (Khaalis)…Allaahu Akbar!Sincerity to Allaah, to Oneself and to Others, free from hypocrisy, or any form of falsehood…a heart that is True and Real.

A certain individual was Described to have Possessed this type of Heart…Nabi Ibrahim (Alayhi Salaam)…The Prophet with the Highest Status after Muhammad (SalAllaahu Alayhi wa Sallam)…This Amazing man had, from a very young age understood the need to worship Only One (His maker) and that He would face a lot of trials as he gets closer to His maker.

Brought up admist those who worship idols, His father being the maker, and seller of these idols infact, He had no fear for them at all.Left with them alone, any child in his position would not have even dared to come near to them, much less talk to them or even break them.

But he did. Because he feared nothing, knowing that He had a Rabb, a maker, The Only One who can save him.

He understood life as a test, and as one who was closest to his Rabb his test was going to be even Greater. He had One Challenge after the Other, but never looked at them as though they were problems, but as beautiful tests from Allaah through which he would gain closeness to Him. And this is related to the saying of the prophet; ‘it is when Allaah loves a Slave that He puts tests in his life’ and another narration says, ‘the greater the test, the greater the reward’. And When he (Ibrahim) was called and questioned by the King Nimrod, whom Allaah had granted some authority…and He had asked him ‘who do u worship?’ and he (Ibrahim, Alayhi Salaam) said, ‘I worship the One who gives life and takes it’…to that the King replied, ‘well I give life and I can take’ and sent for two prisoners, one of whom he instructed to be killed and the other to be freed…SubhanAllaah…Amazed at the extent of his foolishness, ibrahim Alayhi Salaam said, ‘I worship the One who Causes the Sun to Rise from the East,..Cause it to rise from the west (if u can) and I shall worship you’…and He (Nimrod) was defeated completely…

And the Courage this Young boy had to debate with a king, sprung forth out of fearlessness for anything other than Allaah…Because he had that Firm, Clean heart…the ‘Qalbin Saleem’…[If we are to discuss the lessons from Story of prophet ibrahim in full, it will be sufficient as an explanation; but it would also be a long read so let’s move on in sha Allaah…:)]

So, Allaah Subhanahu wa ta’alah in His infinite mercy, has granted every child a ‘Qalb As Saleem’ (A sound heart).

This means that we were all given Sound hearts upon birth. Whenever we disobey Allaah, we are slowly destroying that sound heart, slowly injuring it, until in the process it gets killed! SubhanAllaah…But upon repentance, the injury of the heart starts to recover, and it takes some time till its fully recovered…(and that is what we all hope for in sha Allaah; full recovery of our hearts that they become Sound and pure again) In other words, the more we disobey Allaah the more injury we cause to our hearts. None of us disobeys Allaah except that He is killing his own soul,…its like suicide and we do not even realize it…we are slowly killing our souls daily by the sins that we accummulate and the only Cure is sincere Taubah, Repentance, and then avoidance of the Sins.

All what has been mentioned previously add up to form what will ‘make or break’ our hearts…(In their presence or absence)…Like we mentioned, Nifaq (hypocrisy), jealousy, hatred, kufr, etc…we need to eliminate them…and sincerity (ikhlas), love for one another for the Sake of Allaah, Taqwa (Consciousness of Allaah), etc…we need to inculcate them…So that we can (in sha Allaah) recover the Soundness of our hearts and meet Allaah with Such hearts ‘Qalbin Saleem’.

We ask Allaah to Grant us Hearts that are Submissive to His will, Firm, Clean, Soft and Pure Hearts, ‘Qalb As Saleem’…We Ask Him for Increase in Imaan, Taqwa and ikhlaas and that He makes us and our families of those Who will be enveloped in His Mercy on that Day. Aameen.

For any wrong statement or mistake I have made, it is from my imperfection, my nafs and Shaytaan…And All Good comes from Allaah.

You’re the best person I’ve ever known, the best friend I’ve never met
Your sincerity to me is blinding enough to completely canvas the world around me
with drapes that read, respect, honor, focus, protect…
and leaving a window so that I can zoom in on the important things,
and yet those are the things that I forget, or neglect,
…I will do better.

Your Ummah is fine, not because of me or mine, or wounds that heal with time,
those who’d die for a dollar sign, but because of promises divine,
and so when we feel that we’re at our worst,
and our sadness would cause our hearts to burst,
it feels like there are times,
when there are angels within our lines.
Or maybe hovering over squares,
with chants of freedom in the air,
And though tyrants step on our necks
We smile…for history has always been on our side..
Yours is an Ummah that simply doesn’t die…

I’m sorry for my weakness.
For every time I’ve been ashamed of your name, and asked someone to call me Mo,
For not knowing enough about you to defend you when they drew cartoons, or accused you with the most heinous of accusations…
For not getting over my distaste of reading and waiting for hollywood to put you on the big screen so I can know about you.
As if Steven Spielberg, Mel Gibson, and Johnny Depp could somehow recreate the twinkle in your eye,or a beautiful bead of sweat as it scaffolds on your forehead, frantically fighting gravity not wanting to fall off your body.

I keep thinking of seeing you, and wonder if you would smile at me…
the thought gives me goosebumps…
You told me to meet you at the pool, so on that day, I hope and pray
that I can see you through the crowd,
that no angels barricade me as I sprint at break neck speed,
I hope you recognize it’s me.
I will crowd the companions to get access to your vision.
I will obey my thirst and quench it from your hand, so until that day I will pray…
I will stand and I will pray, as if my feet are holding the earth from splitting.

If I make it, I cry at the thought of seeing you.
For I know the words that I used to read out of all too thin pages,
will do no justice, to your face, your scent, your touch, your voice.
My Messenger of Allah has always existed between the curves and dots of the
Arabic alphabet, So Muhammad ibn Abdillah in 3D and whatever other dimensions the hereafter brings with it, will be an overboard of senses.
I will fall in love with your shadow,
and will tell Ali that his description did not do justice,
and tell my mother Aisha, that we heard her story of how you passed away between her chin and her chest, over and over and over again,
and it made us cry every single time.
For there was no disaster that we suffered more
than what we suffered before our souls merged with flesh,
of entering an Earth that was without you,

Does the sky even recognize us anymore…
And I will sit in the shade of your smile,
and ask you your story directly from your mouth,
as we sip from Salsabil, ice cold,
and would be deeply embarrassed if you asked me for mine,

Cuz I never did anything right, other than loving you
and then…if you let me, I would love…
for a hug.

Who Are The ‘Ibaad-ur-Rahmaan (Slaves Of The Most Gracious)?

Featured

In this Quran verse from Surah Al-Furqan, Allah provides a glimpse of some of the characteristics of His slaves that he calls Ibad-ur-Rahman.

63. And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.

64. And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing.

65. And those who say: “Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.”

Quran (Surah Al-Furqan, Verses 63-65)

In these verses attention is being drawn to the two patterns of character and life: first of those who had accepted the Message of the Holy Prophet and were following it, and the second of those who persisted in the ways of ignorance.

The prominent characteristics of the true Believers are:

They walk on the earth with dignity, serenity and humility, not with arrogance and pride. (“Walking humbly” does not mean walking like a weak or sick person, nor does it imply the gait of a hypocrite who walks ostentatiously to show humility or fear of God. According to Traditions, the Holy Prophet himself used to walk with firm, quick steps.)

If the ignorant people insult them with bad words, they do not respond likewise, but they forgive and overlook, and say nothing but good words. (This is what the Messenger of Allah did: the more ignorant the people, the more patient he would be.)

The true servants of the “Merciful” do not believe in “vengeance”, though they may have to deal with ignorant people who behave rudely and insolently towards them. If they happen to come across such people, they wish them peace and turn away. (The same has been expressed in Surah AI-Qasas: 55, thus:

“And when they hear something vain and absurd they turn away from it, saying, `Our deeds are for us and your deeds are for you: peace be to you: we have nothing to do with the ignorant’.”

Quran (Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 55)

The true servants of Allah pass their nights in worshipping and remembering Him as much as they can.

In spite of all their worship and good deeds, they are so filled with the fear of the torment of Hell that they pray to their Lord to save them from it, for they do not depend upon their own work for success in the Hereafter but upon the mercy of Allah.

The torment of Hell is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.

(Everything that strikes the son of Adam, then disappears, does not constitute an inseparable, permanent punishment. The inseparable, permanent punishment is that which lasts as long as heaven and earth.)

When they hear Al-Laghw (evil or vain talk), they withdraw from it.

The Poet And The King

Featured

As-salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullah

A lighthearted piece (not sure if it’s an actual incident in history, or just a story)…

ذهب رجل إلى الملك وأنشده شعرا
قال الملك: أحسنت.. اطلب ما تشاء
“A man went to the king (of his land) and recited some poetry to him. The king said, “Very good! Now ask for whatever you wish.”

قال: هل تعطيني ؟
قال: أجل
The man said, “And will you give that?”
He said, “Yes.”

قال : أريد أن تعطيني دنانير بمقدار الرقم الذي أذكره في الآيات القرآنية
قال: لك ذلك
He said, “I want you to give me a Dinar specifically equal to the number that I mention within the Qur’anic verses.”
He said, “You shall have that.”

قال الشاعر
قال الله تعالى : “إلهكم إله واحد
فأعطاه دينارا
The poet said, “Allah the Most High has said, “And your god is one God…” [2:163]
So he gave him one Dinar.

قال: “ثاني أثنين إذ هما في الغار
فأعطاه دينارين
He said, “… as one of two, when they were in the cave…” [9:40]
So he gave him two Dinars.

قال: “لقد كفر اللذين قالوا إن الله ثالث ثلاثة
فأعطاه ثلاثة دنانير
He said, “They have certainly disbelieved who say, “Allah is the third of three.” [5:73]
So he gave him three Dinars.

قال: “قال فخذ أربعة من الطير فصرهن إليك
فأعطاه أربعة.
He said, “He said: “Take four birds, then cause them to incline towards you…” [2:260]
So he gave him four Dinars.

قال: “ولا خمسة إلا هو سادسهم
فأعطاه خمسة دنانير وستة دنانير أخرى.
He said, “… nor are there five but that He is the sixth of them…” [58:7]
So he gave him five Dinars and another six.

قال: “الله الذي خلق سبع سموات
فأعطاه سبعة.
He said, “It is Allah who has created seven heavens…” [65:12]
So he gave him seven.

قال: “ويحمل عرش ربك فوقهم يومئذ ثمانية
فأعطاه ثمانية.
He said, “… and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them.” [69:17]
So he gave him eight.

قال: “وكان في المدينة تسعة رهط يفسدون في الأرض
فأعطاه تسعة.
He said, “And there were in the city nine men…” [27:48]
So he gave him nine.

قال: “تلك عشرة كاملة
فأعطاه عشرة دنانير
He said, “Those are ten complete [days].” [2:196]
So he gave him ten Dinars.

قال: “إني رأيت أحد عشر كوكبا
فأعطاه أحد عشر.
He said, “When Joseph said to his father: O my father! Indeed I saw in a dream eleven stars…” [12:4]
So he gave him eleven.

قال: “إن عدة الشهور عند الله اثنا عشر شهرا في كتاب الله
فأعطاه اثنا عشر.
He said, “Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months…” [9:36]
So he gave him twelve.

ثم قال الملك: أعطوه ضعف ما جمع واطردوه
قال الشاعر: لماذا يا مولاي؟
قال الملك : أخاف أن تقول : “وأرسلناه إلى مائة ألف أو يزيدون
Then the king said, “Give him double what he has gathered and then expel him.”
The poet said, “Why is that, your highness?”
The king said, “I feared that you would say (the verse): “And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.” [37:147]

Do we know what is good for us?

Featured

Original source: Iqrasense.com

In one of his articles, Dr. Bilal Philips (a famous Islamic scholar)  narrates a story that involves tragedy, drama, and joy. The story is about an Egyptian teacher whose photograph appeared in a local newspaper. The picture showed his smiling and happy face with his hands stretched out and both thumbs sticking up; his father was kissing him on one cheek and his sister on the other cheek.

The newspaper narrated his story about working as a teacher in Bahrain. After a brief visit back home in Egypt, he was returning to join work and thus taking a flight from Cairo to Bahrain. However, at the airport he wasn’t allowed to get on the flight because he had one “stamp” missing on his Passport. This made the teacher distraught, thinking that his career was over because this flight was the last one back to Bahrain which would have enabled him to report back on time, missing which also meant that he would lose his job. He thus became quite frantic, but his endless crying, screaming, and explanations to the airport staff could not get him on the plane. His family comforted him to accept Allah’s decree.

Disappointed, he returned home only to learn a few hours later that the flight he was meant to take (Gulf Air flight GF072) crashed killing everyone on board.

While feeling sad for the passengers onboard, he along with his family thanked Allah for His decree. The day he thought was the most tragic day of his career and life, ended up to be the happiest one averting a tragedy for him and his family.

We are reminded of such signs in Surah al-Kahf, a surah that Muslims are instructed by the prophet to read every Friday. In it is the story of Prophet Musa (Moses) and Khidr. Khidr bore a hole in the boat of the people who took him and Musa across the river. This made Musa question (and object) to such an action as the owners of the boat were quiet poor and obviously weren’t happy to what was done to their boat. However, as it became apparent later, an oppressor King came down to the river and forcefully took away all the boats except the one with a hole in it. So the owners of the boat praised Allah due to the fact that there was a hole in their boat.

We learn from this story that in times of distress or when we desire something badly, we shouldn’t always assume what’s good for us and what’s not because Allah may have decreed a different outcome. As Allah says in the Quran (part of the verse):

“….and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” (Quran Al-Baqarah:216)

When struck by an affliction therefore, we have to be patient and in control of oneself. That is possible when we elevate ourselves to a high enough spiritual level where our Iman (faith) in Allah can help us ride the wave.

We can also stay in control by not losing our sense of reasoning that can help us provide better perspective of the situation. ibn al-qayyim said, “patience can be defined as a manner of spiritual superiority by virtue of which we refrain ourselves from doing evil. it is also a faculty of the intellect that enables us to live properly in this world.” Qatada said, “Allah has created angels having reason but with no desires, animals have desires and no reason, and man has both reason and desires. Therefore, if one’s reason is stronger than his desires, he is like an angel. On the other hand, if his desires are stronger, he is like an animal.” (ibn Al-Qayyim – “The Way to Patience and Gratitude.”)

The take away lesson for us is that we can improve the quality of our lives by making an effort to train ourselves to be patient, i.e. to elevate our levels of faith and to understand the dynamics that reasoning plays in staying patient.

As the prophet mentioned in a hadith,

“……..whoever strives to be patient, Allah will make him patient” (Al-Bukhari).”

#Reminder: Allah gave me a second chance

Featured

Allah gave me a second chance; and if you are reading this..then He must have given you one too. This second chance we all have can only be called ‘luck’ because there is nobody that can be certain about having it. It is the opportunity we have to be better people. It is the time Allah has given us in which we are alive and healthy, alhamdulillah. It is today, this hour, this minute and this moment. Our chance to change, to graduate from this level.

There might be this tiny thing you have been thinking about doing. This thing you call tiny might be that one thing that might actually save you, that thing that might make your scale heavier, that thing that might grant you Jannah. So this is my advice, do it now. Not later dear, not tomorrow or next week or next month, I mean right NOW. ‘Cos you see, you just might not be alive later #a fact. We all, as muslims, know and believe that we will all die, like it or not, it doesn’t matter, it’s just like that. We’ve seen people we know die, one minute we’re with them and the next, they no longer exist. And for a few moments after we are told, we start thinking..”that’s how I’m gonna end too”, we cry, partly because we lost them and partly because death just reminded us it’s waiting for orders from Allah to take us too.

So start living as you should, constantly reminding yourself you’ll be leaving soon. Don’t burden yourself with material things, they don’t go with you. Do those tiny good stuff you’ve been reading about here and there. And eliminate those things you know as unacceptable in Islam. Love not what Allah hates and hate not what Allah loves.

Thank You for giving us a second chance Ya Allah.
Ma’assalam♥

Jihad an-Nafs

Featured

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

Jihaad, in Islaam, is that struggle engaged in so as to please Allah(SWT) and uphold his word and according to Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah in his Book Zaadul Ma’aad : “Jihad can be classified into four categories:

The first type of jihad is to struggle against one’s own self and desires.

The second type of jihad is to struggle against the temptation of Satan.

The third type of jihad is to struggle against the disbelievers.

The fourth type of jihad is to struggle against the hypocrites.

My topic focuses on the first type of jihad; the struggle against one’s own self and desires. It is the platform on which the other three rest, and so they cannot be established unless this first one is. By trying our best to perform all obligatory duties ordained by Allah, keeping to the sunnah of the Prophet(S.A.W.) and staying away from all that is makruh and more especially haraam, our nafs will be subdued to the lowest of levels.

The Prophet(S.A.W.) Said: “The most excellent type of Jihad is to practice jihad against your own self and own desires for the sake of Allah.” {Reported by Imam At-Tirmithi who said this is a good and sound Hadith .}
And Imam Ja’far al‑Sadiq (a) said: “The Prophet (s) of God dispatched a contingent of the army (to the battlefront). Upon their (successful) return, he (s) said: ‘Blessed are those who have performed the minor jihad and have yet to perform the major jihad.’ When asked, ‘What is the major jihad?’ the Prophet (s) replied: ‘The jihad of the self (struggle against self)’”. [Al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 19, p. 182, hadith no. 31]
So we need to reflect, evaluate ourselves and understand that we can choose “our good conscience” over “the bad one”, to ignore Shaytan’s whisper to continue dwelling in haraam when we know the truth, to restrain our lusts and desires, which as human beings, we cannot completely eliminate and to be ready to make Shaytan cry and be helpless.

“This struggle is considered as the major struggle (al-jihad al-akbar) as it is much more difficult than fighting in the battlefield, for in the struggle against the self, one has to constantly battle enemies that are hosted inside his own existence.

Islamic ethical teachings indicate that the one who succeeds in this struggle can rise above and beyond the level of angels, and one who fails in this struggle will descend to a level lower than the level of animals, and may even be grouped among the legions of the devil.”[Culled from islam.org’s article titled “In a nutshell:Merits of the Soul”].

And speaking from experience, you will be a more content servant of Allah after this Jihaad because you will understand that every haraam act has a negative aftermath not only in the hereafter, but in your journey through this life.

May Allah make it easy for you and I, and forgive any form of error I might have made addressing this issue. #Stay blessed.

The beauty of a woman

Featured

“The word shams (sun) is feminine, and qamar (moon) is masculine. The sun burns itself out to give light and life to everything around, and the moon is muneer, meaning it reflects the light. Within itself it has no light; it radiates the brilliance of the sun. So when we shine as men, the implication is that we are reflecting the glorious light of our women. May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala be pleased with them.”

— Abdullah Adhami

“Love of Allah is life…

Featured

“Love of Allah is life itself, and to be deprived of it entails a terrible death; it is the light without which one would sail in a sea of darkness; it is a cure without which one’s heart will be overwhelmed by a multiple of diseases; it is the joy without which one will remain in permanent grief; it is the essence of faith and deeds; without which they become like a soulless body”-Saalih Al-Munajjid

“Search for your heart…

Featured

“Search for your heart in three places: when listening to the Qur’an and pondering upon it, when you are in the circle of knowledge and when you are alone in private. If you cannot find it in these places, then ask ALLAH (swt) to bless you with a heart, for indeed you do not have heart but a dead flesh.” [Ibn Al-Qayyim Al Jawziyyah]

Heroes by Boonaa

Featured

My heroes never wore tights or appeared on carton channels
They had long beards and kept clothes above the ankles
No combing the streets, like beasts at night looking for thieves
My heroes fought their egos, and narrated ahadith
And some of my heroes were once bag guys too
Baby killers and highway robbers, if you only knew what they knew
Cause you gotta know a lie in order to recognize the truth
And what the point of knowing truth if you can’t back it up with proof
And to prove my heroes were united by a single point of view
Why else would they choose to go against what their fathers used to do?
Unless they knew, that paradise was worth being abused
The best of views, if only you could walk a mile in their shoes,
Oh what I wouldn’t do to kick it with Abduallah Ibn Musuud,
Listen to him recite the Quran, sad to go into ruku
Yeah that would be cool, but me and Hamza, we would kick it old school
Joke about the Jahilliya, silly things they used to do
If I could pick my own crew, Salman Al Farsi would have to be in it,
An honest seeker of truth, may Allah bless his spirit,
Have Tea with Julilibib, Coffee with Anas Ibn Malik
Anything to pick their brains and gain a better understanding
Could you imagine taking a class with Abduallah Ibn Abbas
A scholar by the age of 10, just a boy amongst the men
And if I had one friend, it would be Abu Baker as Saddique,
Someone to hold you down and to really represent,
When Sumayya held her chin to her killers, did she think?
We would name our little girls after her to teach them strength
And who cares about these rappers, we got Hassan Ibn Thabit,
Dude was sick with the flow, can’t believe you didn’t know,
That Zaid was a slave who became one of praise
Lived the American dream, when America was Cree
Umar Bin Khattab was G, held it down for this deen
A real superman, made the devils cross the street
And if I ever had beef, I would call up Khalid Bin Walid
He was a ride or die homie, amongst the Salaf as Saliheen,
And if I close my eyes, man, I could almost see
Bilal amongst the cold morning breeze, Allahu Akbar
Cause surely salah is much better than sleep
Like Abu Sufyan after he embraced the deen
On this earth Talha, was a walking shaheed
And Jafar gave his life for our Ummahs victory
May Allah be pleased and grant them all the highest levels of heaven
Like Uthman ibn Affan, who even the angles were shy in front of
Aisha was a genius, ever word was like a thesis
Mother to all believers, pure like that of Isa’s
Khadija held the fetus of Fatima, who was the teacher
Of Hassan and Hussein, sons of Ali who were slain
Man you gotta know these names, cause these people paved the way
It’s a shame, we know more about them monkeys on BET
This is our history, all the sacrifices that they made for me
Gave to me, a legacy that I could be proud to keep
Said: Be! It was decreed, that at Badr we were only 300 deep
But with the angels on our side, who could even compete?
Although he was a man of peace who preached speech before the sword
He raged a war against error, the worship of fake Lords
Came to restore the deen that Ibrahim laid before
Extreme in his need to feed miskeen and the poor
Yeah, he was hardcore with his face to the floor
Off praying so long that his feet became sore
Uhhhh, yeah he got down like that
And told all the rich they should pay the zakat
And make the salah, and spread the salaam
And declare Ashdu-la-ilah, Ha-il-allah,
Muhammed a rasooul Allah, Sallau alahe wsalaam,
Was the difference between Jannah and Jahennim,
Like the mailman just delivering a message
Who else do you know with a swagger that’s blessed?
The best and perfected, corrected the method
Madina state of mind, coming from the hood of Mecca
Champion companions, homeboys were go-getters
Did it bigger and better, had followers before twitter
The leader of leaders, amir to believers
Enjoined all the good and forbade all the evil
My hero taught people that we were all equal
The best of examples outlined what is legal
Forever I’m grateful for all that he came for
May blessings and peace always reach to my mentor
My teacher, my brother, my hero, my prophet
Muhammed, Sallau alahe wsalaam
And that’s how it goes, so tell everyone you know
That this party don’t stop till the son of Mary come home
I am pleased with my Lord and Islam as my deen,
May we die on these words, Allahuma, ameen.

Ideal Muslimah

Featured

Other women stare mesmerised
For under a veil they think she hides
Yet they don’t realise
Where her true beauty lies
It’s not in her body or her looks
It’s her serenity
Her calmness
Her tranquillity
She is a Muslimah
Ideally
An Ideal Muslimah
That’s her.

When she walks into a room
As cool as you please
The brothers drop their gazes
Get on to their feet
Respectfully giving her their seat
She is safe from being appraised
Like a piece of meat
It’s not from her being a celebrity
It’s from her quiet confidence
The protection provided by her Deen
Her upbringing
Her very modesty
She is a Muslimah
Ideally
An Ideal Muslimah
That’s her.

People gather around her
Some wonder why that may be
For clearly there is nothing to see
So what is her inner mystery?
It’s from her gentleness
Her kindness
Her reasonable words
Her simplicity
She is a Muslimah
Ideally
An Ideal Muslimah
That’s her.

Now you understand
Just why her head’s not bowed.
She doesn’t shout or jump about
Or
Have to talk out loud
When you see her passing
It ought to make you proud
It’s her dignity
Her purity
Her complete faith in the Almighty
Cos she’s an Ideal Muslimah
That’s her!
